Introduction

Jocarepharmacy is registered by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya and operates across Kenya from our facilities in Nairobi.  Our business is built around the following 4 pillars to ensure that we achieve our Mission of “Ensuring Better Patient Outcomes”.  Those pillars are:

  • Affordability: Both in our own Jocarepharmacy branded products but also in all the products available on our platform where we aim to be 20% below the normal retail price.  We do not charge transaction fees for payments and we deliver free within Nairobi.

At Jocarepharmacy we have a system in place that quality is assured starting from product selection, selection of appropriate suppliers, product certification, contract specifications with vendors and the storage, dispensing, transport and use of medicines.

Supply Chain

At Jocarepharmacy we simplify and secure our supply chain to ensure that every product dispensed is genuine and affordable to ensure improved quality and cost of care.

To achieve this Jocarepharmacy has focused on securing the supply chain by sourcing products directly from 3rd party Brand manufacturers, sole authorized importers/distributors and from WHO GMP contract manufacturers under the Jocarepharmacy brand products.  We guarantee the quality of each product as this can be authenticated right from the source. On receipt of the product, or on the production line for Jocarepharmacy branded products, we secure the product by the application of a unique tamper-proof authentication sticker. This process is a guarantee to the client that the product has been sourced by Jocarepharmacy and the product is for the use of the buying client.

The authentication sticker has a scratch-off panel with a unique number that can be SMS’d to a short code for authentication.  There is also a QR code that can be used for authentication through the Jocarepharmacy App and which we also use for stock management.  This ensures that we activate the authentication code on dispensing allowing us to match the Customer name, Order number and Product details to give a very personalised authentication response.  This unique authentication provides confidence to the patient that the products are genuine and safe.

The Team

Jocarepharmacy has a very strong pharmacy team which includes our Superintendent Pharmacist who is also our Hd of Operations and our Regulatory Pharmacist who is also responsible for all aspects of quality within Jocarepharmacy.  They are ably supported by a large team of pharmaceutical technologists who work in our call centre, our warehouse and our patient delivery team.  This ensures that we have professionals at every patient touchpoint.

Both the team and the premises are licenced by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya, with each individual a member of their own professional associations (PSK or KPA). 

This great team is available to deal with your prescriptions or answer your questions from 8 am through to 10 pm 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Professional Service

A customer can access Jocarepharmacy through our website www.mydawa.com via our mobile app, available to download, directly into our call centre.  For non-prescription items, a customer can simply search or browse a wide range of over the counter (OTC) medication, health and wellness products plus personal care products. They can add these to their cart and check out with delivery within 4 hours.

For Prescription-only Medication, a valid prescription should either be uploaded through the website or app by selecting a photo or PDF in their device, emailed to our pharmacy team or simply sent on WhatsApp.  Either way, it will land into the queue of our pharmacy team where each prescription is individually reviewed and transcribed by a professional and the prescribed products are placed into the patient’s cart.  There is no way for an individual patient to add prescription-only products to their own cart.   

Any queries will be taken up directly with the patient or the prescriber to ensure utmost patient safety.  Once the products are in the patient’s cart, the patient will be prompted to check out and pay.

The dispensing process and the delivery of prescription medications is done by qualified pharmaceutical riders. The patient receives the medications and is counselled on the use of the product by offering the proper route of administration of the product, how to monitor expected side effects, give any warnings on contraindications and ensure counsel is given on medication adherence.

Jocarepharmacy has a pharmacovigilance system in place on how to report any adverse drug reactions or other queries. The clients can access the customer experience team that operates between 8 am to 10 pm where any customer concerns regarding a product are logged and acted upon by the relevant departments. A feedback mechanism is set up to ensure information is shared between Jocarepharmacy and the patient. These records are then submitted to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board as per the guideline for report poor quality medicines and adverse drug reactions

Jocarepharmacy has other systems in place adherence to Good Pharmacy Practice and these include:

  • Precautions have been taken to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the storage areas. 
  • The area can be demarcated according to the various categories 
  • The facility should be designed to ensure good storage conditions of the products within the acceptable temperature and humidity limits. 
  • Cold chain facilities are provided to hold medications that require temperatures of 2°C to 8°C, including in the last mile delivery.
  • The Narcotic and Controlled products, Schedule II are stored in compliance with the international conventions, and national laws and regulations on narcotics. The products are stored in a segregated area, in a lockable cabinet with authorized access to it.

What are your hours of operation?

Our website is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Contact Centre support is available from Monday to Sunday, 08:00 am to 10:00 pm. Deliveries will be done for all orders made between 8.00 am to 8.00 pm every day of the week.

How long do I have to wait to get my delivery?

Your purchase will be delivered within 4 hours after if you make your order between 8:00 am and 8.00 p.m. for deliveries within Nairobi. Monday to Sunday. If you purchase after 8.00 p.m., delivery will be done by 10.00 am the next day.

For orders outside Nairobi, deliveries are done after 24hrs.

You will receive a confirmation on your mobile phone and on the website under your orders notifying you when your order has been dispatched. A rider will also contact you to confirm delivery.

Our online store may not offer the required solution in emergency situations.

Are medications available at Jocarepharmacy.com secure?

Yes. The medications that you purchase at our online store are of the highest quality. The prescription as well as over the counter medications we provide are procured from world-class and well-recognized pharmaceutical manufacturers. They are manufactured in facilities that comply to WHO-GMP (Good Manufacturing) Standards and packaged in factory-sealed blister packs

Why do the pills I ordered from Jocarepharmacy.com look different from those I get from my local pharamcy?

According to the trademark laws, generic pill is not allowed to look exactly like its brand-name version. The pills (generic version) you received normally will look different from their branded counterparts, even though both contain the same active ingredient(s) and work in the same way exactly.

Is it secure to use Generic Drugs?

Yes, all our generic drugs are procured from world-renowned manufacturers and thus our generic products meet rigorous specifications and are strictly regulated for security, quality and potency. By law, generic drugs must be bio-equivalent to brand-drug counterparts.

How do I know which products require a prescription?

Products that require a prescription are indicated by their greyed out photos such as this one:

What does my prescription need to have?

A valid prescription should have a current date and the below information:

What about Insurance?

What if my insurance does not cover my medication?

Jocarepharmacy will work closely with your doctor and/or insurance company to obtain prior authorizations if needed. If there are products not covered by your insurance, we will communicate this to you. Once your prescription has been transcribed by one of our qualified Pharmaceutical Technicians, these products will be indicated as ‘’Self-pay” on your cart and you will be required to pay for them using our other available payment options. You will find the prices on these products very affordable.

Do I need anything else for my insurance order?

For us to process your prescription, you will be required to upload a signed copy of a claim form from your doctor. Ensure that all the required fields are correctly filled in.

Also, have your original prescription ready when our pharmaceutical technologist arrives to deliver your medication.

Can I order medicine on behalf of my dependents?

Yes. As long as you are the primary cardholder and they are registered as secondary members.

All you need to do is add them as beneficiaries under your account.

What if I do not have enough money on my insurance card to pay for my authorized medication?

We will notify you when the balance in your account is not enough to cover for your authorized medicines. In this case, you might be required to speak directly with your account manager who will in turn advise if we can go ahead and process your prescription. Alternatively, you can pay from your medicines out of pocket by unchecking the insurance option against individual items. This will automatically convert them to self-pay.

What do I need to receive my medication?

Your insurance card. Have the respective card of your secondary members if the prescription is under their names.

  3. SMS with your order number

Please note that the Pharmacy or rider will run your fingerprints (biometrics) on their smart machine as you as collect your order.

Children 5 years and above may be required to run their biometrics if the order is made against their names.

How do I order from Jocarepharmacy?

The ordering process is very simple:

  1. Select the product and add to cart.
    • If you need prescription medication, upload a clear photo of your prescription.
  2. You may be required to register with Jocarepharmacy if you haven’t done so already.
  3. For your first order, please use the button to create an address. This address will be saved and can be used on subsequent orders.
  4. Choose a convenient way to pay.
  5. Complete your order. You will receive an SMS with an order number.
  6. One of our deliver riders will contact you to confirm when your order is being dispatched.

How is my order packaged?

Jocarepharmacy takes the greatest possible care in packaging your order. Your order will be securely packaged in a tamper-proof bag and will be labelled your name to ensure it reaches you securely. The package is discrete and no one gets to see what you have ordered unless you show them.

What if I pay more than my final order value?

In the event that the amount you pay is higher than the total value of your final order, the difference will be placed in your account which you can use against future purchases.

Delivery Questions

How long do I have to wait to get my delivery?

Your purchase will be delivered within 4 hours after if you make your order between 8:00 am and 8.00 p.m. for deliveries within Nairobi. Monday to Sunday. What are standard delivery charges?

Deliveries within Nairobi County are done free of charge for all orders valued at Kes 2,500 and more as well as all health insurance orders. For orders less than Kes 2,500 a standard delivery charge of Kes 99 applies. 

For orders in Kenya outside Nairobi Country, the delivery charges will be calculated and displayed on the summary page before you make payment.
